Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing photos at the Women’s Gridiron Open Day hosted by the Raptors at their Deception Bay home. The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow on an event that promised an exciting glimpse into the world of gridiron. Here’s a snapshot of the day that perfectly blended camaraderie, skill-building, and the pure joy of the game.

 


Underneath the gentle sun and a comfortable warmth, Hosted at the Raptors field in Deception Bay created for a memorable day of gridiron. Featuring a mix of women eager to explore and engage in the thrilling world of this captivating sport.

With enthusiasm radiating in the air, women of all kinds came together to embrace the gridiron experience. The day commenced with a heart-pumping warm-up session, setting the energetic tone for the activities ahead. Laughter and excitement filled the atmosphere as participants of varying skill levels showed their eagerness to learn and challenge themselves.


The drills kicked off with catching practice, ensuring a dynamic start to the day. Moving on, participants engaged in route-running and defensive maneuvers, showcasing their willingness to grasp the fundamentals of the game. The tackle drills were a definite highlight, with everyone enthusiastically charging the soft, donut-shaped tackle bag.

As the morning progressed, a spirited 5v5 flag football game unfolded. The field resonated with cheers, encouragement, and the lively banter that defines camaraderie in sports. Amidst the friendly competition, a strong sense of community emerged, reflecting the inclusive nature of gridiron.
